Teaching Online at Collin College

To teach an online course at Collin College, faculty must satisfy three requirements:

  1. Teaching with Canvas at Collin College
    • This course was designed to not only provide faculty the tools and practical suggestions to be ready to teach here at Collin College, it provides an example of best practices in course design.
    • Whether you teach on campus, hybrid, blended, or fully online, the effective use of your online course content and delivery is key to a successful class.
    • An assessment will be offered at the end of each module.
    • Teaching with Canvas at Collin College is a self-paced and fully online course.
    • Once you have completed the course, fill out the form in order to receive the certificate of completion.
    • Search the database to see if you have completed Teaching with Canvas at Collin College.
  2. Quality Matters Workshop
    • Faculty can complete either APPQMR OR IYOC.
    • Workshops are offered Synchronously via Zoom. 
    • All QM workshops offered by the eLearning Center are free of charge to full time and part time faculty.
    • Quality Matters workshops completed at another institution can be added to the Collin College database if they were completed within the last ten years. A completion certificate is required and can be emailed to elc@collin.edu
    • Faculty can register for a workshop by accessing the Quality Matters Workshops page
    • Search the databaes to see if you have completed a Quality Matters workshop
  3. Section 504 and Title II of the ADA
    • This course will give employees an overview of Section 504 and Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
    • After watching the required video, please complete the form to confirm you have completed this training.
    • This is a self-paced course. Employees can enroll by clicking the link for the Section 504 and Title II of the ADA course
