Quality Matters: Improving Your Online Course

(for Full-Time and Part-Time Faculty)

The Improving Your Online Course workshop explores the QM Rubric and provides a framework to improve the quality of online courses. Participants use the QM Rubric to review their own online courses and develop a course improvement plan.

The content is based on the essential Specific Review Standards of the Quality Matters Rubric. Participants come away with a plan for course improvement. Enrolling in the workshop with a pre-developed online course is required.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Identify the origin and scope of Quality Matters.
  2. Apply the essential Specific Review Standards of the Quality Matters Rubric to your own online course.
  3. Describe the alignment of at least one module/unit in your online course.
  4. Prioritize improvements to your online course.

Prerequisites:

  • Ability to read and write standard business English

Workshop Formats:

  1. In-Person via Zoom, for four hours on one day.
  2. Online in Canvas over a two week period with no synchronous meetings. 
    • NOTE: This workshop requires 10-15 hours of asynchronous time each week.

* This was an APPQMR course that was moved to IYOC due to the college closure on Fridays during the summer. 


 

You can check to see if you have completed a QM course using our search form. You can also log into Quality Matters, click My Activity, and My Certificates to view and print any QM workshops certificates. 


 NOTE: Workshop fees are only paid by the eLC when faculty and staff register for a workshop using the forms above. If faculty or staff register for a workshop though the QM website, the eLC is not responsible for any associated fees.
