Program and Curriculum Development - Refer to the Program and Curriculum Development Guide to learn about Collin College's program degree options, core curriculum, timelines, forms, assessment, and other important procedures for adding, deleting, changing, and/or deactivating courses and programs.

The curriculum development process is critical to the quality of any educational program. Each step and phase of the process requires thoughtful, deliberate, and forward thinking to ensure program coherence and appropriate sequencing. The goal is to demonstrate that the structure and content of the program is progressively challenging students to integrate knowledge and develop analysis and inquiry (SACSCOC Principle 9.1)

The Backward Design (beginning with the end in mind), can be an effective way to design curriculum that meets the program’s goals. Not only is the assessment of student learning outcomes and program learning outcomes important to consider in the development stages, but also equally important is the access students will have to the courses needed to accomplish their academic goals and complete on time.
