Council on Excellence Purpose: To promote academic excellence through professional development for faculty, peer review and coordination of the Minnie Stevens Piper nominee selection process. Also, to review and recommend faculty applications for UTD scholarships to the SVP. How is the committee selected? The members are elected through vote by full-time peer faculty. Curriculum Advisory Board (CAB) Purpose: To review all changes in curricula, catalog listings, or other academic issues, including the addition of new courses and programs, and make recommendations to the designated Academic Officer (AO) in accordance with the policies of the Collin College Board of Trustees, the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). Further, the CAB is charged with providing a faculty-driven forum to address college-wide issues through a curricular perspective. How is the committee selected? The CAB is comprised of representatives from the faculty who are appointed by their deans to serve three-year rotating terms. Purpose: To conduct executive-level planning, analysis, and discussions regarding administrative matters affecting the college, and to make recommendations regarding college policies, procedures, and guidelines. How is the committee selected? The Executive Leadership Team consists of the President's Cabinet, Campus Provosts and other college leaders.This group generally meets monthly to discuss and consider district-wide strategic planning, organizational and policy matters. Mission: The Collin College Staff Council will serve as an advocate for Collin College staff, serving in an advisory role to the District President regarding the college's working environment, and ensuring transparency and collaboration throughout the Collin community. How is the committee selected? The Staff Council membership is composed of 30 members...15 elected positions, 15 appointed positions and one ex-officio position. Nominations are accepted and an election is held each spring. Appointments are made each summer to maintain the balance and equal representation across the college district. The Staff Council meets once a month, usually on the 2nd Friday of each month (unless otherwise noted) at different campus locations throughout Collin’s academic year. All constituencies of the college – both full-time and part-time faculty, administrators, staff and students – are welcome to present ideas, comments and questions to the Staff Council to aid in enhancing communication and a spirit of community.
