This packet should be used as a guide to track a student’s progress towards award completion using current and potential PLA credits. It should also be used as a way to confirm that the student will stay within the 75% PLA maximum to maintain eligibility for their intended award.
When officially submitting the Petition for PLA Credit, the completed PLA Planning Packet must also be submitted with it.

This form is the formal submission to confirm that the student is ready to have departmental
PLA credit applied. General instructions can be found on pg. 1-2 to help guide you
through the process. Once the form is complete, e-mail the PLA Planning Packet, the Petition for PLA Credit form, any supporting documentation, and any Cashier’s Office receipt(s) to degreeplans@collin.edu for processing.

Verification Pages
The following PDFs provide guidance on how to verify if prior PLA and/or transfer work has been evaluated and applied to the student's degree audit. Verifying this information is an important step in determining the student's existing PLA percentage to see which departmental PLA opportunities the student can pursue without exceeding the 75% PLA maximum.
These guides use Banner and Cougar Compass as the primary methods of verification. They will be updated once we transition to Workday.

Approved PLA Opportunities (under review)
This list includes approved PLA departmental opportunities such as departmental exams, skills demonstrations, certifications/licensures, etc. It does not include opportunities such as credit by exam (AP/CLEP/IB) and transfer credits from other institutions.
