Proposing PLA

The forms below are included for proposer reference.

Before beginning the proposal process, e-mail the Curriculum Office to determine which forms are needed for your proposed revisions. They will set up a Shared Folder that will contain the required proposal forms and curriculum outlines for your program’s awards.

Forms

PLA Proposal Form

This is the primary form needed for a formal PLA proposal. It will outline key areas for PLA Review Board member reference, including the types of PLA opportunities being proposed, the PLA percentages for all affected awards, etc.

Confirm approval with the District Discipline Dean (DDD) of the proposed changes before submitting your proposal to the Curriculum Office. All PLA proposals will require approval signatures from the proposer, the DDD, and the Campus Provost once the proposal has completed the review process with the Curriculum Office.

PLA Evaluation Components and Criteria (ECAC) Form

This form will provide information on the PLA opportunities the department intends to make available for a specific course included in the proposal.

One ECAC form must be completed for each proposed course.

Departmental Process Plan for Linked Courses

Any academic departments that offer linked course options must have a Departmental Process Plan for Linked Courses on file with the Curriculum Office. This plan tracks how linked courses could potentially affect a student's PLA percentage. Academic departments must clarify how they will help students maintain eligibility for their intended award without exceeding the PLA maximum.
