Overview
The Student Surveys of Instruction is a structured feedback tool used to gather students’ perceptions of a course and the instructor's effectiveness at the conclusion of an academic term or at the end of courses. It plays a key role in improving teaching quality, enhancing course design, and supporting institutional accountability and accreditation.
Purpose
•To assess student satisfaction with course content, instruction, and structure
•To identify strengths and areas for improvement
•To provide constructive feedback to instructors and departments
•To support evidence-based decisions for curriculum development
The Office of Institutional Research (IR) is responsible for conducting course evaluations each summer, fall, winter, and spring term. All course evaluations are administered electronically. The College utilizes a web-based student end-of-course evaluation system, which is hosted by an off-site vendor known as Watermark Course Evaluations and Surveys (formerly known as EvaluationKIT). Watermark Course Evaluations and Surveys uses a secure server that ensures the security of all data. The electronic course evaluation system is easy, convenient, secure, and confidential. Watermark Course Evaluations and Surveys is integrated into the College's Canvas course management system, which provides easy access for both instructors and students.
