“Appreciative education is presented as a framework for leading higher education institutions,
delivering truly student-centered services, and guiding higher education professionals'
interactions with students.” -- Bloom, Hutson, Konkle and He
The Appreciative Education (AE) framework encourages and supports educators to embrace
positive mindsets, leverage learners’ assets and strengths, and empower learners to
take ownership of the learning process for their academic success.
Collin College faculty, with support of staff and administrators, proposed to form
a district-wide Collin College Appreciative Education Committee during the beginning
of 2020. The committee aims at optimizing the educational experiences of our students,
and thereby strives towards achieving Collin College’s Core Values and as well as
the College’s 2020-2025 strategic goal of Maximizing the use of Collin’s unique resources and talents for the benefit of students and the communities served by the College.
Driven by the need to provide more systemic support and resources for faculty, advisors
and administrators so that they can in-turn support students in meeting their full
potential at Collin, the AE Committee has developed this AE resources webpage. This
webpage provides information on Appreciative Inquiry and Appreciative Education –
comparison between the two models, AE resources for faculty, AE resources for staff,
and AE resources for administrators.
