Online Faculty Orientation 

This faculty orientation was designed to not only provide faculty the tools and practical suggestions to be ready to teach here at Collin College, it provides an example of best practices in course design. Whether you teach on campus, hybrid, blended, or fully online, the effective use of your online course content and delivery is key to a successful class. Teaching with Canvas at Collin College is a self-paced and fully online course. Once you have completed the course, fill out the form in order to receive the certificate of completion.

CONTENT: The module training is self -paced and completely online. Course level objectives:

  1. Faculty will be able to integrate basic features of Canvas LMS into their Pedagogy.
  2. Faculty will be able to relate knowledge of more advanced features of Canvas LMS.
  3. Faculty will be able to leverage Canvas tools to engage online with students.
  4. Faculty will be able to utilize best practices for online teaching which include the Quality Matters Rubric, Accessibility, as well as effective course design.

An assessment will be offered at the end of each module. Again, once you have completed the course, fill out the form in order to receive the certificate of completion via email.
